Most of you likely know me. But for those who do not know me, let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Katharine 'Katie' Wolfe. I am the 2nd/youngest daughter of Patrick Wolfe and Margaret Love.
About ten years ago, when I was in middle school, an uncle came to visit and showed me the family tree he had been working on. I was so intrigued by the idea of genealogy that I asked him to give me the family tree he had worked on so I could play with it myself. However, at the time, I was only 12-14 years old and was way to immature to dive into the research necessary for family history.
Fast forward to a year ago (2010) and my love for genealogy was alive again. I had just graduated college, and was trying to figure out what to do with some of my graduation money. After exploring in Best Buy, I decide the Family Tree Maker was what I wanted. And it came with a year of Ancestry.com! I was so excited!
I started my journey to research my family again. I knew that my mother's side (Love/Martin/Atchinson) had be extensively researched before by other relatives. I knew very little about my father's side (Wolfe/Fraizer) so I decided to focus on that side of the family. This was not going to be THAT hard because I lived around my father's family in Akron, Ohio. I started to ask the necessary questions and was soon given the names and dates of many family members. I was even surprised to find out that my grandmother's side (Frazier) had a small family tree as well.
During the months of summer I spent my time familiarizing myself with FTM and Ancestry.com, entering in data and discovering new branches in my trees. However, this soon had to stop because I was back in school and had to focus on my studies. Fast forward again to this summer (2011), my Ancestry.com subscription has run out, I have acquired a HUGE chunk of family history on the Martin family, and I realized I am EXTREMELY disorganized.
I needed a plan, not only a research plan, but an organization plan as well. After doing more research on researching (haha) and organizing I think I have finally figured 'The Plan'. I am going to make a book or in this case a blog for each of my grandparent couples. Normally when making 'The Book' you start with yourself and your spouse; but I don't have a spouse! So I thought about starting the book with my parents. This would mean I would research both my father and mother's sides 5 generations back. However, like I said before, I wanted to focus on my father's side (for now). So I decided to start with 'The Book' with William Ernest Wolfe and Shirley Alene Fraizer (my grandparents). From here, I will explore the the many questions I have about my father's family and hopefully record them in this Blog as I go.
Oh and do not worry Love Family, I will eventually get to you again. But for now I'm just focusing on what is the most accessible and needs the most research.
